SEO!  The first time I have encountered this acronym, only one thing came into my mind Senior Executive Officer.  Laugh at me if you want but that came into my mind first.   Following the trail that most online dot com’s are run by companies.   Anyway that was the past.

SEO or Search Engine Optimization is an acronym widely used now in the world wide web.  Reading something like this will for sure puzzle first timers.  So to make a brief description what does SEO really means and what does it do.  So taking some research on the net came up with this meaning.  According to wikipedia it “is the process of improving the volume or quality of traffic to a website or a webpage (such as a blog) from search engines via “natural” or un-paid (“organic” or “algorithmic”) search results.”   So to elaborate and expound it is something to deal with the visitors coming into your website or blog.  The more the visitor the better.   There are many SEO Company that helps generate or improve traffic on one’s site, one example is the SEO San Diego.

Aside from SEO there’s also what you called the SEM or Search Engine Marketing.  This SEM Company is the paid side of the SEO.   The appearance of website or blog depends on the paid search engines.   This is how they markets your website or blog.    So whether it is paid or not, there focus is only one, traffic volume generation.

It pays to remember what your goal is, though: You’re trying to get more traffic to your page. If you can get a link from another site that will give you more traffic to your site (even if it doesn’t help your search engine rankings) then it’s a good link! In some ways it can even be better traffic, particularly if the other site is relevant to your site.
