I remember some of the board games that I use to play when I was a little. All of them are fun and challenging. The most common board games are chess, checker, snake and ladder, monopoly, backgammon and many more. That was the time when computers and online games are rare and expensive. For kids with no game console or video game ends up playing the board games. Not expensive like the video games today. It is more of a set and play thing.
Most of these board games are much interesting because of what you call strategy. Games like chess, checker, and the likes are can be called a strategy board games because you’ll be reading the minds of your opponents. You need to be one step ahead of your opponents. Other games like monopoly, snake and ladder, and others are more of luck in a spin of a dice. About backgammon, well I haven’t played it that’s why I don’t have idea on how it is played.
We know that today is the age of computers, online games, 3d games, and a whole new media of entertainment. The way people, especially kids, being entertained are really realistic and more visual. Board games are now coping with the reality and some developers are creating and putting them on the virtual world. Making it more fun and exciting. I think whichever is the medium as long as we enjoy playing them they still serve their purpose.
